CAMPAIGN SUMMARY
Hi, my name's Tim. I've been sailing opti for 16 months. I started sailing when i was 11 and a half. When i first started sailing i hated it. I didn't like it if it was over 12knts. I didn't take sailing very seriously until March of 2009. My attitude changed when i did a race to Rangitoto(extinct volcano) and back. The wind was howling and the waves were crashing. It showed me that there was nothing to be afraid of. I just needed to hike out. After this event i started winning some races and i was addicted to sailing. I never stop thinking about sailing now, i just wish i could sail instead of going to school. I love sailing in my very own boat. My goal is to be the Optimist World Champion like Chris Steele my coach who won the title in 2007. After i finish sailing opti (in 3yrs) i hope to move into a two-man boat or even windsurfing. There are heaps of possibilities in sailing and it can take you anywhere in the world.

Optimist National Championships 2010
In 2010 i competed in the New Zealand optimist nationals. This was my first nationals and came 13th New Zealander. I also won first 13 year old. I was picked to represent New Zealand at the Japanese Nationals and the New Caledonian Nationals. I was very pleased with my result as at the start of the season i was at the back of the fleet coming 61st in my 1st qualifying regatta. To get to 13th took a lot of hard work. I would like to thank my Dad for taking me to every event, My Mum for supporting me and m making me lunch and my sister for supporting me on and off the water. This year my goal is to get to the Optimist Worlds.
