Campaign Summary: My name is Finn Nilsen I have been sailing for 12 years. The boats that I’ve sailed competitively are the El Toro, Optimist, Knarr, and currently the 29er. Me and my brother have been sailing together on the 29er for 3 years now. Our team name is Team Nilsen. My goals for the future are to make it to the 2012 and 2016 Olympics with my brother in the 49er and build my sailing career from there. However our plan for the next year is to get top 3 in 29er world championships, and the U.S. 29er National championship. We are currently applying for grants and in search for sponsors.
Significant Achievements: My over all achievements in my sailing career are 2004 optimist PCCS sportsmanship award. 4th place 2008 youth champs, 6th place 29er U.S. Nationals, and 4th place 29er North Americans. As well as receiving the T. David Fenix Award for the junior yachtsmen (TEAM) of the year.
Skills & Interests: I have a number of skills and interest. My skills are mainly focused on coordination in things like skate boarding, drumming, and skiing. I show a lot of interest in music and various extreme sports such as helicopter skiing, Kite boarding, and surfing. All of these sports I hope to get involved in the future.
