| CAMPAIGN SUMMARY |
I have been sailing since I was 8 years old and on boats and on the water forever!
I come from a family of sailors, starting with my father and grandfather who competed together and my eldest sister who represented New Zealand at the Olympics two times in the Europe Dinghy. I also come from Auckland, the City of Sails, in New Zealand.
I sailed optis, p-classes (my boat was called the elliminator), and then moved into radials and europe dinghies. My top results growing up were 1st female and 2nd overall at my last P-class nationals and 6th overall in the Open Women's Laser Radial Worlds sailed in Australia.
I then made the transition to College Sailing at Yale where it took me 2 years to figure out how two sails work together... and then I spent 2 years developing my skills with my crew Marla Menninger until we were a dominant team in the Women's College sailing scene - ending our career together winning A division two years in a row and winning the overall National Champs sailed in San Fran this year. I was also named Quantum Women's Sailor of the Year which is a title I 100% share with Marla!
I am now beginning to chart my next move having graduated from Yale. I am came to Yale initially with the purpose of deferring my Olympic campaign decision till later and to keep growing as a sailor and a student and now I am at the point where I have to decide.
I want to start the learning process again. I want to make the shift into an Olympic class and set out on this path. |
