CAMPAIGN SUMMARY
Mike Costello and Brendan Kopp are training with the ultimate goal of winning 470 Olympic Trials in 2011 and representing the USA in Weymouth in the 2012 Games. Below Brendan writes about the team:

Mike and I started sailing together at the end of 2006 in the 420. After two years of very successful racing together, we had climbed to the top of the youth circuit and began to look towards the next step- the 470 (a bigger, faster, version of the 420- and one of the Olympic Classes).

During the summer of 2008, Mike and I decided to take the first steps in launching our campaign in the 470 class, working hard to earn enough money to buy our own 470.

In January ('09) we sailed our first regatta in the new boat (Miami Olympic Classes Regatta). It was a great experience because we got to go up against the top 470 sailors in the country, and even some of the fastest in the world. Our 10th place finish was a strong result for our first event, and we really feel we have what it takes to ultimately excel in this boat.

This past summer we went to Europe for two major events- Kiel Week in Germany, and The 470 Worlds in Denmark. Both events gave us a chance to keep improving our sailing, and get used to what it's like sailing in an Olympic class! We learned a ton about how to sail the boat, and came out feeling like we had made big steps forward.

This winter we will need to put those new skills into action as we head down to Miami for another big push! The next big events on our list are the 470 North Americans, and Miami OCR- both in January- and we are looking to put up a top performance at both, and improve on our OCR finish from last year!

We are looking forward to a great winter season, but we won't have the funds to train effectively without your help! Below you will see instructions on how to make a tax-deductible donation to our campaign. We would be extremely grateful for any support you can give!

HOW TO DONATE !!!

All donations to our campaign must be made through the Sailing Foundation of New York , a non-profit organization that maintains our donation account. This means that all contributions to our campaign are TAX-DEDUCTIBLE.

It's easy to donate!- just write a check made out to "The Sailing Foundation of New York," with "KOPP/COSTELLO 470" written in the memo. (The memo insures that the contribution is designated for our account).

You can either send the checks to us (and we will then collect them and deposit them with the Sailing Foundation), or you can send them directly to our account at the Sailing Foundation of New York. Please find the mailing addresses below:
